Some process detailes.

On this type o single screw extruder designed to gelatinize raw starch granules so to form a double or single layer sheet a stainless steal mesh is usually placed in the extruder head so to stop or hold small particle size impurity (typically  around 0,6 mm) which might come with flours or dough through the die. The mesh needs to be replaced  with clean one periodically and the period depends, among other causes,  on raw material quality, its particle size  and composition The pictured solution is quite convenient as the operation to replace the filter takes laterally a couple of seconds as a clean mesh replaces the used one while extrusion process continues and the extruded sheet doesn’t stop flowing through the die.
